DESCRIPTION:Reception\, Year 1\, Year 2\, Year 3\, Year 4\, Year 5\, Year 6 \nOn Thursday 6th November\, we will be celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day. On this day\, all the children will be doing the majority of their learning outside. They will come to school in non-uniform\, wearing clothes that they don’t mind getting wet or muddy. We would also like every child to bring a pair of wellies or boots that they can change into when doing the activities in muddier areas and if possible waterproof trousers and jackets. If children do not have a change of shoes for the muddy activities they may not be able to fully join in as they will need clean shoes to wear indoors for lunch etc. \nAt the end of the day\, we are inviting any parents who wish to join us to come for a OPAL Parent Play session. This will be at 2.25 pm until 3.05 pm and will be an opportunity for parents to see what their children have done that day\, as well as join in with a typical lunchtime play session. \nIf you wish to attend\, please just fill in this link to notify us that you will be there.

We would really appreciate other helpers to support this person though. Please do get in touch if you are able to help. \nChildren will be able to bring their decorated or carved pumpkin and put it on the grass as you enter the school grounds from Tranby Lane. Families entering a pumpkin can drop them at school between Monday 20th and and Thursday 23rd October 8.30 am – 8.45 am. It will be £1.00 to enter on the day the pumpkin is dropped off. The pumpkins will be judged on Thursday 23rd October and can be taken home on Friday 24th October. Halloween Hamper prizes will be given in assembly on Friday. \nIn addition\, before school and during the school day\, children will be able to ‘Guess the Weight of the pumpkin’. This is £1.00 a try and a Halloween Hamper is the prize. SUMMARY:Autumn Census Day
DESCRIPTION:Reception\, Year 1\, Year 2\, Year 3\, Year 4\, Year 5\, Year 6 \nNext Thursday is national Census Day for all primary schools\, where (amongst other key figures) the number of Key Stage 1 children staying for school dinners that day is recorded.  This figure (along with the same figure recorded on the January 2026 Census Day) then determines how much Universal Infant Free School Meal (UIFSM) grant the School receives.  This UIFSM grant is paid to the School to cover the cost of the provision of free school meals for our children in Reception\, Year 1 and Year 2 and is paid at the rate of £2.61 per day\, throughout the school year\, for every child that stays for a meal on those October and January census days (a total of £495.90 per eligible child). \nSo with this in mind\, we are tweaking the menu next week to encourage as many children as possible to stay for a hot school meal on Thursday.  Please see the menu for the day (click here) – Beef Burger (Veggie Burger for vegetarians)\, Wedges\, Sweetcorn\, Garden Peas\, and Waffle with Chocolate Sauce for dessert! \nMay we please ask you to encourage your EYFS/KS1 child to stay for a hot meal that day or to try a hot school meal for the first time\, if they have not already done so!  Any additional income is very important for the School\, so we do hope you can help.  Thank you.

DESCRIPTION:Reception\, Year 1\, Year 2\, Year 3\, Year 4\, Year 5\, Year 6 \nSwanland Village Association are holding a whole village litter picking session this Saturday 27th September from 10.00 am to 12.00 noon. If you want to join in\, please meet outside the Christ Church by the pond. Families and children welcome.  All equipment provided but please wear gloves. Free hot/cold drink afterwards.
