Year Three
Welcome to Year 3!
The teachers in Year 3 are Mrs McCallum in 3SM and Miss Welbourne and Miss Platten in 3GW/CP.
The Classroom Teaching Assistants in Year 3 are Miss Spence, Miss Harston and Miss Welburn. Mrs Lee and Mrs Parkinson teach both classes French and ICT on a Thursday afternoon.
Throughout the children’s time in Year 3, they will participate in many engaging and exciting lessons and opportunities.
In the Autumn Term, our main topics are: Animals including humans, The Coast and Where on Earth. During the first half term, we visit The Deep to support our science topic of Animals including Humans. In the second half term we showcase our art, poetry and music to parents during our Festive Afternoon.
In the Spring term, our main topics are: Forces, Plants and Trees and Stone Age to Iron Age. We have a visitor come to school from the Pre-History era, to support our prehistory topic. Also in the Spring Term we provide the children with the opportunity to attend our Year 3 sleepover at school! This helps prepare them for residential trips in future years.
In the Summer Term, our main topics are: Sound, Rocks and fossils, Volcanoes and Earthquake and Local History.
The children in Year 3 have PE on Tuesday afternoons and Friday mornings. During these lessons the children will be learning lots of new skills and abilities through activities such as Dance, Gymastics, Invasion Games, Cricket, Tennis and Athletics.
How to support your child at home
We would like in Year 3 for the children to:
-
Read a minimum of 3 times a week, it could be a school reading book or a book they are reading at home.
-
Practise their weekly spellings and times tables
We look forward to working with you and your children this year.
The Year 3 Team
